A creative weekend in Classical Athens 7 – 11 November 2019

I’m excited to be venturing somewhere new, taking a small group for a long arty weekend in Classical Athens. Helle from Discover Kalymnos has designed a creative trip that includes sketching and painting on location, tours of the Agora, Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum with expert local guides, two evening meals, an evening walk and time for shopping.

The temperature in November should be around 20% – just right for sketching outdoors and relaxing.

I will be leading the painting and drawing sessions, which are suitable for total beginners or those with a bit of experience. Although I will share my knowledge of drawing and watercolour technique, I’m less interested in skill levels than giving you some tools to capture your impressions, slow down and take in your surroundings. I can include a bit of perspective drawing theory to help us all with those buildings. There are some excellent guides here –https://www.liveabout.com/definition-of-perspective-2577690

Painting in the bluebells

This was a one-day course painting watercolours in the bluebells at the Bluebell Farm, Arlington on 8th May, for beginners and more experienced painters. I demonstrated watercolour technique in the cosy kitchen while lunch was being prepared, then the sun came out and we were sat outdoors after a fantastic lunch cooked by Philippa Vine from Bluebell Farmhouse Kitchen.
